When I finally came too I was laying on a plush carpet in an overly colorful room.  The sisters were there, I could smell them.
I jumped to my feet but the sensible sister was too close.
Picture

“How do you feel?” She asked reaching towards me.
I recoiled, stopping just before bumping into the wall.
“My headache is gone, but I was drugged, so all in all not good.”
I sneered.
She stood close with a polite smile on her face.
“Yes, well, some things needed to be done.” She shrugged.  “Now we need to get to work.  Please sit.”  She pointed to a chair, taking a seat at the table across from it.

Picture
“Why should I trust you?” I took the opportunity to get a bit further from her.
“What choice do you have?” She shrugged simply.
I growled in response, but took a seat.  This mystery crap was starting to get on my nerves, I could not help but wonder if it was all worth it.  I cursed as I scooted in to the table, if the answer was under my noise the entire time I was going to be pissed.
“Nalia, get in here.” The sister yelled towards the only door.  I wondered why I had not noticed it until now.  The blonde sister strolled through the door with a large grin on her face, finally I had a name for one of them.
“Yes Sister?” Nalia placed a hand on her sister’s shoulder and winked at me.
“I am going in trance, please watch the space.”
Nalia just nodded curtly, all laugher left her face.  She stood behind her sister scanning the walls.

“Place your hands on either side of the crystal and concentrate on your sons face.  Picture it in the ball.” Nalia’s sister said calmly pulling me deeper and deeper into a zen like state with each word.
I did as she asked and pictured Jasper’s face, the last day he was alive on the swing at the park.  I heard a humming in the back ground but my eyes couldn’t leave his.

Picture

I smiled and he smiled back at me.
Then I heard the sister start to speak, I could not understand a word she said but the entire room seemed to fill with electricity.

Picture

The unnamed Princess gasped first, I was too distracted by the
sparks, but then I saw what she did.

Jasper’s smile disappeared and his eyes widened with fear, in them I watched him die again and then it zoomed in so that Jasper’s face was gone and all that was left was the Grim taking my son.

Picture

The image jumped to a dark cave where a women dressed in a black cloak pour two liquids into a jar.
At first nothing happened but then the unnamed Princess stepped into the scene in a beautiful gowned.  I could not help but hiss as I watched her bless the vile poison I knew was to be
used on my son.  If she flinched I did not notice, I was trying too hard to see the face the cloaked woman.

Picture
The image lurched forward to a park where I seemed to be waiting for someone.  I smiled slightly at the image, I knew that face, it was my hunting face.  I watched myself jump on a woman with raven hair and rip her throat open with my teeth. My fangs started to pulse at the blood that drained from the woman but I didn’t drink it, I watched as I spit the blood that had entered my mouth back in the dying woman’s face as
she laid on the ground.  I was never able to see her entire face clearly, but I could see enough.  The scene continued as flashing lights appeared behind my blood drenched self.  I just laughed as a cop handcuffed me and walked me to the car.
A felt a smile creep over my face, I would get vengeance for my son.  Based on the scream I heard creep out of the sister watching with me, she did not approve of my future actions.

Picture
The image jumped one more time to my ghostly son crying in a
court room as the judge gave me the death sentence.  I could not help but scream myself as they took him to a foster home.  My hands left the crystal ball and flew to my face.
“It wasn’t real”, I told myself, or so I thought till the sister responded.
“But it will be.” She said with grim certainty.
“What?” I looked her with wide-eyed panic, I couldn’t let that
happen.
“This is your future if you keep the course you have in mind,” she seemed to be calming at the sight of my worry, “you now know who killed your son but if you escape, as you plan to now, this will be the outcome.”  She nodded toward the crystal ball.  “Let me help you.” She seemed genuinely interested in helping me, but I had thought that before.
I thought for a moment, watching my son’s eyes fill with tears as I was taken from him.  I did not want him to go through what I had when he died, he wasn’t ready for that yet.  I nodded, for my son, I would find another way.
“Good,” she smiled and leaned back in her chair, “now for your first lesson.  You must find a way out of this room.”
I smiled and stood to go towards the door I had seen her sister appear through earlier, but it was gone. I turned and looked at Nalia for help, she only grinned the smile of the insane and went back to staring at the walls.

Picture

Maybe she was on to something, I started to look at the walls myself.  Studying the pattern, looking for any clues to a way out.
I brushed by a dream catcher on my way around the room, it was the only thing on the four walls.  I looked at it a bit closer, and then touched the moon.  I heard a slight creek to my right and
went to investigate.

Picture
The wall had a slight split to it, right where the wall paper lined up.  I knocked on it and heard an echo on the other side.  This was it, it had to be. I started to push, using all my strength.  This should be easy, I thought, I am a vampire!  I looked to the sisters,
who were watching me intently.
“Your vampire strength is not here, your mortal in this realm.”  Nalia giggled, her sister just nodded to confirm her statement.  I decided to tuck the ‘this realm’ statement away for a now and
chew on it later.  I had a wall to get though.  I continued my efforts throwing my entire body into it.  My muscles started to shake and sweat started to bead on my forehead.  I was about to give up when I heard another creek, the wall was giving.  I gave it one last shove, with all the energy I didn’t have.

Picture
The wall gave loose and spun open.  I stopped to catch my breath for a moment, a bit startled by the sudden lack of tension in my body.  I heard Nalia cheering in the other room, she was on my side after all.  Her sister was a bit more calm.
“Go down the stairs, that is where you will be staying till your training is complete.   Everything down there is yours now.”
I turned to ask her how far down the stairs went but they were both gone when I looked back.  With a sigh I turned back towards the spiral staircase.  I hoped it was only one flight.
I lost count of the steps after 352.  I decided to take a break and make a game out of walking down what seemed to be a never ending tube of steps.
When I finally reached the bottom it was pitch black.  I used the dirt walls to move around the small room looking for a
switch. It was not until I stubbed my toe on a ceramic bowl that I realized it was probably gas lighting.  I felt around some more and found a pack of matches on a table, I lit one and located the two floor lanterns.  I lit them both and took in my
temporary home.  A small cot for sleep, a table with a simple bowl and some strange dolls, a toilet, a sink, and a rusty bathtub in one corner, a dusty bookshelf, and a single podium with a large book on it.

Picture

I decided to look into this feature first.  As I cracked open the book I was careful to be gentle with the dry pages.  The language was foreign to me, but my eyes scanned the pages anyway.  I could feel the magic in this book, it tingled through my mind as my eyes danced around the mysterious words.
I flipped through the entire book, and then started again, driven to see the words one more time.  Only this time, when I flipped open page one, I understood every word written.

Great chapter. So are we supposed to know who the killer is, or just her?
